About
Carbon accounting for the businesses that do the actual work.
Ceresgreen exists because the businesses being asked for carbon numbers are often the ones with the least time to produce them.
Why we started
More and more UK small and mid-sized businesses are being asked for their emissions: by larger customers filling in their own Scope 3, by lenders, and by public-sector buyers who require a Carbon Reduction Plan. The tools available were built for sustainability teams at large companies. The other option was a consultant and a spreadsheet.
We think the maths should just happen. Bills, bank transactions and the way you already price work contain most of what's needed. If software reads them, applies the government's own conversion factors, and asks a person only when something is genuinely unclear, a footprint stops being a project.
Why construction first
Construction businesses are asked for carbon more often than most, and they already have a precise record of what goes into every job: the schedule of rates. Our first sector tools came out of working with a UK construction business that needed a carbon figure on every line of its schedule and every job priced from it. Healthcare and manufacturing are next.
What we're building
Ceresgreen connects to your energy supply, bank and accounting software, understands plain-English descriptions of everything else, and turns it into a Scope 1, 2 and 3 footprint with the workings shown. On top of that sit the things people need: carbon per job, a Carbon Reduction Plan, client reports, supplier data requests and a match against UK funding schemes.
